COMPETITION CATEGORIES
Junior : Under 15 years of age at the time of Geekfest. At least 50% of costume crafted or helped to craft parts.
Beginner- Genin : New to cosplay, first time entrants or cosplayers with very little cosplay experience. At least 50% of the cosplay has to be crafted.
Intermediate-Chuunin: Slightly more experienced cosplayers who have entered competitions before. At least 75% of the costume has to be constructed.
Masters-Kage: Semi professional and professional cosplayers should enter this category. This is for cosplayers who have placed at major competitions. At least 90% of the costume has to be crafted.
In addition to these, a masquerade will also be run on the Saturday. It will not be a competition but rather a chance for all those who perhaps did not want to compete, to still show off their costumes and stand a chance to win some prizes.
The Juniors and Beginners cosplay competitions will be held on the Saturday 29th of June, with the Intermediate and Masters being the 30th of June. Each section will have their own prize giving.
PRIZE CATEGORIES
Each of the above categories will have a first, second and third place winner. In addition to these, extra prize categories could include:
- Best construction/ workmanship: exceptional needlework or crafting done on the costume in question
- Most entertaing (Masquerade)
- Best in Show
- Judges choice
